Crafternoon Cabaret Club

So it’s 2.34pm on a Saturday afternoon and I’m sitting sewing, when a garrulous lady in a glitzy silver gown bursts through the basement door, quaffing champagne and exclaiming wildly about her debaucherous night out. I nearly prick my finger, but a sip on my frosted glass brings me back to the room, and sort of reality. This is Crafternoon Cabaret Club – a mix of creativity in its all its guises. This monthly Saturday afternoon of crafting and cabaret performance, based in London, was founded by Hannah Cox and is one of those ideal girly get together options that it seems remarkable that no one has thought of before.

Gathered around tables filled with pots of buttons, scraps of fabric, scissors and ribbons – and of course instructions – we set to work making pin cushions and needle books whilst we are entertained by Megan Ford, a talented and hilarious comedienne and impersonator, and Sean Smith, a mind reader who uses tools to interpret the subtle cues of behaviour and personality to understand people better.
The theme changes every month, and location varies (this month was The Book Club) but Hannah is always keen to provide fun and engaging activities and the best up and coming entertainment acts. Craft has been becoming trendy for a number of years now, and with this added twist its popularity is sure to only rise.
