Pete, I'm really looking forward to reading your review of the album. Judging by your quote it should be better than the thoughtful, articulate one above. We're in for a real treat.

Pete - I have checked and all your comments have been approved and are showing, so I'm not sure what you mean by not afforded proper space?
I appreciate everyone's comments, although Francesca does say it is 'a clever and noble idea' and that From Cathedral Cities to Dark Northern Towns is 'a glimpse of brilliance', so I don't think the review is quite as critical as some people are making out.
Music is all about opinions and not everyone shares the same! Life would be pretty boring otherwise, huh? If any of you would like to review the album as well then we would be happy to publish it on our site.

In reply to <a href="https://andsoshethinks.co.uk/quiet-rebellion-still-talking-scribble/#comment-607">Francesca Baker</a>.

Dear Francesca
First of all, thank you and congratulations for having the decency to reply to someone who was / is obviously passionate about great music, and in this particular case, Quiet Rebellion aka Shaun T Hunter.
Still Talking Scribble is a work of extreme beauty which is driven by a level of humanity and musicianship which requires the listener to transcend the normal, shallow realms to a much deeper spiritual place.
Every nuance of carefully chosen instrumentation transports each " true listener " to the intended plain.
Granted, this intellectual, spiritual, stimulus is not for everyone .... but then truly great art has never, ever been a popularity contest : Vincent Van Gough couldn't sell a painting in his life time because " the sheep " didn't get it - now the same herd, flock to purchase even the worst examples of his art
for ridiculously crude amounts of money.
I am quite happy in my work, promoting excellent music, it is a joy and a pleasure - as for reviewing any art form - let me at it - my opinions are as valid and erudite as any serious critic on the globe x

Thanks for all the responses - think that's the most animated our readers have ever got... Are there any other albums you recommend I listen to? I confess, I wasn't keen, but there may be something more to change my mind? And Pete - you're more than welcome to write for us!

Music is a wonderful means of expression and, like every art form, it is subjective - however, reviews like this one irritate me to the core.
The wonderful Oliver Norville Hardy once said : " People should never judge anything unless they have something better to put in its place ! "
This review is exactly that - a judgement - which tells the reader absolutely nothing about the music, or the artist, of which it is addressing.
The whole point of any music critique is to afford the reader an insight into the artist and their craft - this falls woefully short on every score.
I feel reasonably well qualified ( I have been a singer songwriter for more than 25 years and a music promoter for more than 5 years ) to comment on Quiet Rebellion.
Quiet Rebellion aka Shaun T Hunter is a superb artist of the highest order.
His live performances ( of which he has made several for me ) have been, like his albums and Still Talking Scribble in particular, nothing short of stunning.
I suggest Francesca pays a visit to her G.P. to have her ears syringed as she most definitely has a hearing deficiency .............. James Blunt ? ............ a ridiculous comparison - that is like comparing Margaret Thatcher to Karl Marx ....... get a grip !!
