We’ve been a fan of Arcadian Kicks for a while, with their angst fuelled power, party perfect melodies and riffs that swell and astound. You may have heard You Play The Girl on the recent Gap campaign (and if you like it, head to the band’s facebook page for a free download.) Recently the Birminghham based five piece have been working and recording with Mike Chapman, the legendary producer of Blondie’s classic albums, amongst many others, and new single I Wanna Take You Home one of the fruits of that label, the relentlessly solid rhythm taking more of a dance step than before and Becky’s vocal delivery more direct and deliberate, although the trademark yelps are still chucked in to gloriouseffect. From the gorgeous opening notes that quiver like silk yet are as sharp as steel, cutting lyrics ‘hear the rain pour down on you and your whore’ and relentless grind to the guitar, this is sure to widen their fan base. Given the chance to hang out an Amazing Towers, have a cuppa with Chris Martin and wax lyrical about some new music, It’s All Happening were there. It’s Amazing, the round table show, invited Francesca from It’s All Happening and Lucy from DIY Radio and Roundhouse Radio, with the task of selecting the best of the best, a selection which included the lush soaring A Kingdom from Lanterns On The Lake , the grunge glamour of Gross Magic‘s Yesterdays and the tetchy country from the beautiful voice of Laura Gibson and Le Grande. Opinions changed throughout, well though arguments being swept aside in favour of compelling emotions and rousing riffs. Who won? Listen in….

It’s common knowledge that IAH are avid listeners of Amazing Radio and huge fans of Spring Offensive, so it was difficult to contain our excitement when we found out the two would be teaming up. Thursday 8th September will see the first gig in a series of new monthly nights that Amazing Radio are holding at The Bull and Gate as a showcase for new music. If the strength of the launch night line up is anything to go by then this is sure to be a great addition to the London live music scene. Tickets are just £5 and more information is available here.
