The latest track from Parisian indie pop outfit Tahiti 80, the title track from new EP Bang starts with a pulsing intro with a small nod to electro synths that never really takes off to the giddy stratospheres it good, but evolves into something of a flickering pop vibe, with simple lyrics that will no doubt force feet to tap. Think choreographed TOTP style dancing, with a little indie panache for good measure.

And bang. The energy hits you and doesn’t abate throughout the whole record. Rap rock that bears no relationship to Limp Bizkit, the slinky beats of Ezra Bang and Hot Machine slink through the album into your hips, and have them shaking.
The sonic narrative is flooded with anguish and rapture, and achieves mesmerising tunes for both moods. There’s a fine balance between improvisation and careful structure, which leaves an eyebrow raised at the ‘street’ lyrics, but whatever the guys are intending to do, there’s no doubt that they achieve pummelling intensity.
