Bubbling along with a sugary melody and bouncing chords, Emily Capell‘s new single Joey is jam packed full of the humour and smiles that make her such a bright spark on the local music scene. The lyrics sound like a set of instructions to her dear Joey, but are delivered with such vibrancy and wholesome sparkle that there’s a certain delight enrobed in their tongue in cheek delivery. Playing with her band, the Three Pete Sweet, Joey is a double A side single, backed by the equally ballsy Applejack and released on Clashsounds Records. Lacking some of the strength of previous tracks, but still full of smiles, it’s a fun release that will no doubt enrapture her ever growing legion of fans.
