First tune All The Birds is a rich palette of piano, harp and strings, quivering reverbs and hints of psychedelia, all laced up with her gentle but powerful vocals. A song that uplifts in its simple and sparse beauty, despite multiple inputs, it’s worlds away from her time with Lamb but does cement her position as a singer songwriter in all its essence. A vintage vibe is the result of recording friend’s studio in rolling Wiltshire countryside crammed full of analogue equipment and retro pieces. After six albums with electronic genre-benders Lamb and three solo albums to date, including the Mercury nominated Beloved One, her capacity as a songwriter has grown, and she shows no signs of becoming formulaic or predictable. Elegant and textured, it’s a joy to listen to.
