Reviewed by Francesca Baker

This is the age of the perfect pop songs, short attention spans, twitter sized tunes. So when did The D.A. believe it had become acceptable to start an album with a track nearly eight minutes long. And follow it by two five minute plus tracks. Although that’s beside the point.
Overall this is standard fare electro, with some occasional flashes of excitement, such as the noodling brass on Big Woman, the inclusion of calypso rhythms on recent single Pastels and the question that strikes me as all too pertinent this weekend of ‘why was it so fuckin’ fun before you were 21?’ on Old, Used & Scratched. Although singer Tyler Dudley may well be trying to be offbeat and intense, but the shouty vocals suggest more an inability to hold a tune, and don’t incite affability.
Buoyant and excitable, you can’t knock the spirit of this self release, and in fact, given its fluctuating similarity to bands such as Two Door Cinema Club, and the magic touch of Justin Leeah, who as well as this album has recorded Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Conor Oberst and Girl In A Coma, it will probably do pretty well. I don’t begrudge that…I just got bored…
