Deliciously laidback slur of a vocal over guitars that tinkle with giveafuck youthfulness, Joy of Romance is the latest tune from High Sunn, the dream pop project of 17-year-old Justin Cheromiah. Based in sunny San Francisco, he seems to have spent his time strumming away. Since the age of 14 he has released thirty singles, EPs and full albums. Hopeless Romantic is the first one to be recorded in a studio, and with his mates too. Recruiting Joe (drums), Freddy (lead guitar) and Ari (bass) the bedroom musings now take on a fully rounded feel, but still capture the cool meanderings of teenage explorations. Released on 19th May via PNKSLM Recordings.

Two Gallants forthcoming album, We Are Undone, available 2nd February on ATO Records is the fifth from the Californian duo, and continues in their familiar trajectory – slightly off kilter traditionally formed songwriting drenched in folky sentiment and cultural observation. Adam Stephens (guitar, harmonica, keyboard and vocals) and Tyson Vogel’s (drums, guitar and vocals) first and title track We Are Undone is a rolling melody on the topic of consumerism and acquisition, withy sinister and nasal vocals, quivering fluid chords and a gentle beat meandering through to an ending as sharp as the gentlemen themselves.
