Another evening of music and words from Booked and And So She Thinks in the beautiful Gallery Café. Featuring rhythmic acoustic from Thom Byles, Sugardrum and his soothing glacial sounds, the Liverpool based poet Jess Green making the mundane magnificent through words, and the talents of the Roundhouse Poetry Collective, our guest partner for this event.
They say that every song has already been written, and every word already said. The theme of this evening is Masquerade – pretending to be someone else, taking something you think you know and presenting it in a new way, reinterpreting all that has been before. Think the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra playing Oasis, Shakespeare via Twitter, Cat Power sung by a man, or Jay-Z in iambic pentameter. With a mix of original content from the artists and their own takes on art that you thought you know, the night will be one to delight.

Tickets are available from We Got Tickets, and are only £5 in advance, £6 on the door.
The Gallery Café will be serving food and snacks throughout, so come down and grab some of their delicious vegan fare.
BOOKED is a literary event with the aim of creating a setting for cultural exchange and a community experience, allowing the exploration of the world, via words. In conjunction with Francesca, who runs And So She Thinks and numerous music projects, these events unite music and words in an intimate and inspiring setting.

Here it is. Evidence that not only did the It’s All Happening festival did, er, happen, but that it was a damn good day to boot. Check out performances from Alessi’s Ark, Soulmates Never Die, The Ruby Kid, Silent Devices, and Fallingham Fair, and many others, marvel at the ambient surroundings of The Gallery Cafe, appreciate the delightful adornments and decoration, courtesy of Bronwyn Opland and the girls.
Again we would like to thank all the artists, be you of the music, art, spoken word, poetry or craft type, for your time, talent, and entertainment, The Gallery Cafe and St Margaret’s Settlement – good space and great staff, Rob Taylor & Aidan for making sound happen, Bronwyn & the girls for beautifying things, Lara for preserving the memories, The To Do List and everyone who helped spread the word, and all those who came down to enjoy the day.
Of course, the beauty of the visual art form is that you don’t have to read lengthy written musings – you can let the images do the talking. Here you are then:

It's All Happening! festival – Alessi's Ark!

The very first It’s All Happening festival! A day of folk music, acoustic indie, original art, craft, spoken word, performance poetry and film – in short our favourite things. Taking place at the Gallery Cafe in Bethnal Green, on June 23rd, from 1pm til late, tickets are available now!
We’re thrilled that the lovely Alessi’s Ark will be headlining – the first of a run of festival performances for the charming folk singer.
Alongside the mix of solo artists strumming in the garden, bands captivating the cafe throughout the day and evening, and entertaining and enrapturing spoken word in the chapel, will be a craft market, delicious array of food and drink, a photography and art exhibition, and tunes to get you in the mood to dance til dawn. (Although not with It’s All Happening necessarily – cafe curfew!).
Anja McCloskey, Soulmates Never Die, Fallingham Fair and The Cooling Pearls will all be playing, alongside The Ruby Kid and Joshua Seigal, and acoustic artists Thom Byles and Larissa.

This is Postcard, the beautiful new single from Sugardrum. The story telling band are after a little help from in creating the video for the song which will feature as many postcards as possible, contributed by you guys.
These don’t have to be real postcards you’ve received in the post — an original drawing or picture you’ve made yourself will do fine, so long as it’s postcard size. Email photographs or scans of the postcard to sugardrum@gmail.com by midnight on the 31st Jan.

Oslo’s given London a Christmas tree every year since 1947. Balthazar brought the little baby Jesus some gold. 27% of of men are hoping they’ll receive socks (according to TK Maxx). It’s All Happening want to go one better and bring you the ultimate festive gift – It’s All Happening: The Christmas Collection. Some of the best bands we’ve worked with this year, who have played the gig nights and generally delighted us all, have been lovely enough to donate tracks to our mixtape. We could rave about how wonderful it was, boast that we sold out, be pleased that people were piling in on the steps outside, impress you with the that fact all the profits raised by the cafe went to St Margaret’s House, or we could just let you see some of the comments we got back.
