Ooozing wistful charm and care free vibes, but far from simplistic, Hater have blended together joyful melodies and nodding pop with sober impulses. At times eerie, at times enrapturing, the Swedish quartet channel contemporaries such as Alvvays, The Radio Dept. and Melody’s Echo Chamber but wrap their indie pop in hazier fuzz that tiptoes the line between reflection and urgency. Introducing themselves to the world earlier this year with First Time, they release debut EP Radius on PNKSLM on July 8th, and with it will no doubt garner a whole lot of love.

Bolting forth with bright fever and passionate frankness, Youth, from Swedish duo Pale Honey is a direct and fresh piece of frenzied and fraught garage pop, bristling with playful riffs and pacey drums. Tuvra Lodmark (guitar/vocals) and Nelly Daltrey (drums) describe the track as having ‘controlled coolness’, the sweaty intensity of the guitar work layered over brisk and succinct rhythms. Potent and emphatic in its sparseness, it’s a deft and intimate introduction to their debut album, also called Youth, out May 4th on Bolero records.

Sweden seems to do a good line in female electronic pop artists. Drenched in synths like frosty sunlight and featuring trademark woozy vocals, Say Lou Lou‘s new single Nothing But A Heartbeat is a bouyant tune that kicks off with a pop intro which gathers momentum and morphs into a rousing and forthright angular anthem. The Swedish/Australian sisters (their inner thermostats must be confused) release their debut album Lucid Dreaming on April 6th 2015, and will be returning to London for a headline show at Heaven in London on April 8th.
