Sometimes (a lot of the time) music journalism is pure self indulgence. Hearing quite outstandingly fuck off brilliant songs that wet the knickers and make the blood fizz and then wanting to tell the world about them. doing so in circa 100 words. Such is the case with The Coathangers and Derek’s Song. Devilish flicks of the tongue, rollocking riffs and an infectious descent into dizzyingly blissful playful aggression this has had be bouncing around the office/living room/bedroom/street/pub/gym/pavement/gig/studio and every other place recently visited. Awesome. The video is what the result of The Great Gatsby gone punk would be – a right riot.
