Lucy Joplin writes about what she knows, and kicked off with what was written in the diary of her thirteen year old self. The best art comes from the heart, and the unflinching and plucky sound of this gutsy female is certainly heartfelt. Along with JJ Crash, whom she met through the Antifolk scene, she is creating bouyant and vivacious tunes with a pelt of bittersweet jollity. As to whether she is the protagonist of The Libertines’ Can’t Stand Me Now – who knows?
