After some comings and goings, break ups and make ups, San Francisco band No Vacation have released their new single Mind Fields via Topshelf Records. Taken from their upcoming collection out in June 2017, the dreamy five piece told The FADER that the track is ‘an ode to breakups inspired and written during No Vacation’s year-long hiatus. It has a tinge of nostalgia, but at the same time, an air of hopefulness for the future.’ Sab Mai’s wistful vocals are yearning and resolute, accepting the struggles but with a dash of courage: ‘Just relax, time will pass if you let it go / Sifting through your sorrows won’t get you anywhere’ as the wandering melodies linger beneath her.

Brooklyn band Infinity Girl love a bit of shoegaze, but thankfully Nolan Ely and the band never spend so much time staring down that they forget to look up and craft a killer hook. And on new album Harm those hooks are there in abundance. From the thunderous cacophony that welcomes us in on opener Hesse, through writhing melodies on latest single Firehead, the extended reverb that leads out Hold and blurs into disco synths on Not Man, the apt bounce of Young, and Heavy, which sounds not unlike an eighties video game going through a blender, there’s plenty going on. With clattering fuzz and distortion throughout, grazed and anxiety wrought shapes, and an expansive and propulsive air it’s an intense and emotive piece of work.
Harm is out on the 28th August via Topshelf, and you can order it here.

Fuzz fused and pumped up Sheffield duo Nai Harvest have announced new album Hairball is to land on 28th April via Topshelf Records, and have unveiled the first single Sick On My Heart. Bolshy punk sonics and brash vocals combine in a confident rush of elasticated melodies and memorable hooks, enjoyed with confidence and tenacity. Throughout April they are touring the UK with fellow Sheffield band Best Friends, all culminating in the album release and a hometown gig. Best friends themselves, guitarist and vocalist Ben Thompson (22) and drummer Lew Currie (24), have been touring relentlessly for the last two years, and those experiences are to be heard in tone and content of the record. It’s an assured yet abrasive record, bubbling with emotion and angst whilst being deftly written and produced.
