The Fallen Drakes – Death of an Actress

Having raided the best bits of a Now That’s What I Call….Indie Rock, should one exist, Fallen Drakes play the songs made for driving in drizzle (Masquerade), adding in Feeder-esque soaringly simple riffs; do cheeky sex talk ‘she likes making love with the lights on, and that’s alright with me’ ‘Lights On’; chuck in gorgeous round robust beats that make the shoulders strut and the feet follow in a guise of confidence on  ‘Don’t Cry’, a song made for whacking on when you need to dance your troubles away; and ponder the great question on ‘Love Again’ – ‘Love is a beautiful thing, so why am I so scared of falling again.’ A great mix, from a band worth watching.
