The Maccabees are a band with things to say. The sharp tension of nostalgia, love, loneliness, city decay and growth are all explored on new album Marks To Prove It. It’s a bold album, the rock band toolkit of guitars, riffs and pounding drums all executed to powerful and imaginative effect, thunderous rock music defying the death knell. The album was recorded at the band’s own Elephant Studios – reflected in the artwork, which features a photograph of the Faraday Memorial on Elephant & Castle roundabout taken by David Busfied, and is a very apt image for the changing nature of gritty reality. The fourth studio album is thoughtful and considered, but not introspective, powerful in its reflection of our own lives.
Released on July 31st.
