My parents always brought me up to do what felt right for me. Career choices, friendships, hobbies and study, the direction of my life should not be wholly dictated by other people, but in tune with the desires and needs that I as an individual have. Happiness and contentment is the goal, not accomplishment or achievement.
You would think that this might make things easier. But it’s a fallacy of the modern world and the younger generations that with all the opportunities and choices available, we are becoming more and more confused about the directions to take in life. A well paid job, a nurturing family, an artistic lifestyle. Living in a city or a village. A sandwich or a salad for lunch. Wearing heels, trainers, or loafers. All these choices are influenced by who we are. But who we are is not so simple.
