Released April 16th, on Fiction records
In 2011, 2:54 captured us at The Great Escape managing to turn Horatios on the pier into a haunting quiver of a room, , their melancholy melodies delighted us at Field Day, and we were entranced by the band at smaller gig at Corsica Studios. After the release of their EP Scarlet last year, Collette and Hannah Thurlow are now ready to unleash a full length Leviathan strength of sound in the hypnotically intense, self titled album 2:54, out on May 8th.
First single You’re Early is a swirling source of knife blade melodies which trembles with emotion. Lurking in the shadows of the bitter sweet blurring guitar work are intense vocals that border on the line between fragility and brutal, and the video, shot in the mists of a gloomy day in County Clare, is a perfect representation.
2:54 has been recorded mostly by Mercury-winning producer Rob Ellis (PJ Harvey etc), and mixed by the Alan Moulder (Smashing Pumpkins, Nine In Nails etc), the back catalogue of those industry experts melding with the voices and emotions of two young girls to create something quite arresting.
