Land Lovers -Springtime for the Mystics

Summer demands some jangly pop to soundtrack it, and thankfully Irish dream-indie-pop band Land Lovers have just released their brand new album, The Rooks Have Returned on Popical Island. Here is Springtime for the Mystics, the first track off the album that the Irish five piece have been brewing over the last couple of years. Spikier than others in their cohort, the band have managed to make a sort of noetic melody. It might be a buoyant sounding tune that flitters and lilts, but the lyrical content is somewhat darker. Centring around the imagined future for one of the children in revolutionary Dublin at Easter 1916, whose rise in politics and power is marred by paranoia, fear, occult visions and scandal. Using a MiniMoog, quirkily tuned piano, and anything else to hand, it’s an eclectic blur of instrumentation that has a playful feel to it.
