Back in September 2010 the captivating Rubicks played the very first It’s All Happening gig. Finally the rest of the music industry has caught up with The Sunday Times proclaiming their ‘dazzling pop….a delight, the NME praising their  ‘fantastic ability to synthesize the  pop pout of Blondie, the chilled machine thrum of Goldfrapp and the rock sensibilities of the Pixies into one late night, last-dance swirl’ and Clash believing that Vanessa’s is a ‘real star in waiting.’ New album ‘The Rise Of The Giddy’ is a commanding and cutting synthesis of the glamtastic live performances Rubicks are notable for. Imagine the best nights out of the eighties and nineties, the neon haze factor whacked right up, pulsating rhythms rocking your body into sonic convulsions, electricity crackling throughout the room. It’s that good.  The whole thing has an air of compulsive hazy menace, and Vanessa’s luscious vocals continue to cut with power, lacing together the flirtatious pop synths with punk vigour. Edgy and seductive. We just hope this dizzingly exciting album doesn’t mark the start of growing up – giddy is good.
