The ethos of It’s All Happening is all about getting new music ‘out there’. We love working with, and supporting, anyone else who shares this same passion as us, and therefore it was with great sadness that we heard Amazing Radio has had to be pulled from DAB. Amazing Radio is an extremely important pioneer in the UK music scene, often being the first to break new and emerging artists, and giving them coverage on a national platform.
Amazing’s founder Paul Campbell has explained the decision in greater detail here. We have had the pleasure of working alongside Amazing a number of times in the past, including being guests on the station and Amazing’s presenters writing guest articles for us. The DJs that we have met at the station are all very passionate about new music, and we hope we can tune in to them on DAB again soon. In the meantime we will be offering our support by listening through the website, tweeting #saveamazingdab and signing the petition. It would be great if you guys could do the same..
UPDATE: Since posting this article we have received an email from Paul Eaton, Head of Radio at Arqiva. His response was as follows:
“Arqiva can confirm that Amazing Radio has withdrawn from digital radio as a broadcaster. It is always our policy not to disclose our contractual relationships with our customers. We would be pleased to welcome Amazing Radio back broadcasting in the UK, once certain contractual obligations have been met , which would be the same princip le for all our customers old and new . Until such time we fully support their de cision to be removed from the network.”

Arqiva’s response suggests that Amazing have have had to leave DAB for financial reasons. We do not know whether this is because Arqiva have upped their fees, but we hope they appreciate the excellent work Amazing undertakes for the music industry, and that a compromise can be negotiated in the near future.
