Thirteen Senses – Loneliest Star

B-Sirius
14 Feb 2011

After a four year hiatus Thirteen Senses are finally back. Single ‘Loneliest Star’ is a beautiful piece of soaring pop that makes you want to close your eyes and spin around the room. The thirty second intro is a teasing build up to the arrival of Will South’s crisp voice, which intertwines the varying tempo of the guitar, synths and drums. Thirteen Senses have stuck to the old adage of ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ meaning ‘Loneliest Star’ is not a great departure from the relative success of the material on first two albums ‘The Invitation’ and ‘Contact’. The single is radio friendly and, whilst you feel the quartet still have a more aggressive side to offer, a teaser of which we get in the building bridge that suddenly lifts the track from potential comparisons with Keane, this is all in all, a reassuring return ahead of the release of third album ‘Crystal Sounds’ on 21st February.
