Truck Festival 14

It seems that, over the last few years, the number of small festivals has grown profusely. However, we are in a recession and festival goers have less disposable income than at any other point in this millennium. A number of small festivals have had to be cancelled but, through them all, one in particular has stood tall: Truck Festival.
In it’s 14th year, Truck is held on a farm in the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside. Truck has continued to grow and this year, for the first time, has become a three day festival. Brothers Robin and Joe Bennett have also scored a massive coup by bagging the services of Transgressive, Heavenly and Bella Union to curate the Clash Tent. This year’s line up includes headliners Bellowhead, Gruff Rhys and Dreaming Spires, in addition to must see acts such as Graham Coxon, Tribes and Marques Toliver.
We should also give a special mention to previous It’s All Happening headliners Gunning For Tamar and Alphabet Backwards who are on the Last FM tent and Main Stage respectively. Gunning For Tamar are a brilliant combination of gutsy guitars and substantial soundscapes. Alphabet Backwards are at the other end of the indie spectrum, with a whole host of enjoyable indie pop that will get the crowd moving during their early Saturday slot. Other acts to make sure you check out are We Aeronauts, Spring Offensive and Admiral Fallow.
This year’s fantastic music line up is supplemented with comedy and cabaret, a dance arena and a theatre, meaning that there will be a larger choice of entertainment available than ever before.
No other festival has got us hooked in the same way as Truck, with 2011 being our fourth consecutive year. A wonderful village fete feel, with a blend of big names and promising acts from the local scene, make this the perfect ‘small’ festival.
